Memorial à Capelinha, proposta de intervenção no afloramento rochoso do Aracá, em Esperança – PB.

Abstract

The city of Esperança, located in the backlands of Paraíba, has little explored tourist potential, where one of its landmarks is the chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located on a rocky outcrop within the urban perimeter, known as the smallest chapel in the world. Since it is a protected area, a wall was built around it and today its population is restricted from the real benefits and potential of the space, which repeatedly becomes idle for most of the year. In addition, there are records of musical performances, events, theatrical productions, seminars, celebrations and popular demonstrations in the city, which reinforce the need for an adequate physical space. In view of this problem, a preliminary study is being carried out for a cultural space to be built around the chapel, which is considered a historical and cultural landmark of the state, according to law 11.571 of December 10, 2019. Since its immediate surroundings are a rocky outcrop, the objective will be to develop an intervention with a previously manufactured and modulated construction system, enabling future expansions. To this end, the project will be supported by data collection of its surroundings, study of physical conditions, “in loco” survey and related projects.
