O design das cores em habitações de interesse social: uma análise das preferências cromáticas para fachadas no conjunto Aluízio Campos, PB.

Abstract

Color is one of the elements responsible for creating significant, expressive and discernible architectural environments. Thus, the colors of the facades are an important aspect of the city, affecting its general appearance and the perception of the inhabitants. In a Human Centered Design approach, in the context of social interest housing, it is considered that the choice of colors must include the inhabitants in the design process. In this context, this research seeks to understand the relation between the chromatic preferences of the residents and their symbolic associations with the color choices for the residential facades of the Aluízio Campos housing complex, in Campina Grande, PB. In the literature review, this document contextualizes the issue of social housing in Brazil, and then addresses concepts related to colors and their symbolic associations, as well as issues related to the city, colors and urban landscape. Exploratory research was carried out, with an applied nature and a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative). To obtain the data, semi-structured interviews were carried out in the homes of 342 residents of the complex, at randomly selected addresses. The results showed significant correlations between residents' color preferences and their color choices for facades. In this sense, it became possible to conclude that chromatic preferences for facades are endowed with complexity and meaning, and it is necessary to consider the individuality of this choice in future projects. As a contribution, this research presents data for the characterization of patterns of color preferences that can support the planning of future housing projects in a similar context
