Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop guidelines for urban interventions in the Velame neighborhood, in the city of Campina Grande (PB), addressing the theme of urban qualification in underprivileged urban areas. This research utilized a quali-quantitative method and also relied on a collaborative dynamic with the local population through informal conversations to gather information, as well as a technical diagnosis using cartograms and photographs of the area, which should contribute to the assessment of the neighborhood’s needs. As a theoretical basis, bibliographic sources from authors who discussed themes of urban requalification and urban interventions in underprivileged urban areas were used. From this, the ideal ways of intervening in the study area were discussed, aiming to bring viable alternatives addressing the urban requalification of the region.
