O feminino na política brasileira: análise da trajetória política de Luiza Erundina (1988 – 1992).

Abstract

The study deals with the feminine in Brazilian politics, in particular, it analyzes the political trajectory of Luiza Erundina, in the periods in which she was elected and served as mayor of São Paulo between 1988 and 1992, in order to understand this period as an interesting occasion for be researched for the unprecedented nature of a woman, from the Northeast, migrant and leftist, winning the elections in the largest city in Brazil. The objective is to analyze the image of Erundina constructed by the media and how she discovered the stigmas of being a northeastern and left-wing woman. It is interesting to analyze which stereotypes are constructed to define her plastic and public image. Because, as will be seen, throughout this TCC, the media in general at the privileged time, as a gender perspective, highlights physical aspects of the candidacy such as: her plastic beauty, clothing, “feminine vanity”, in addition to behavioral and questioning aspects about your sex life, sexuality and sexual orientation. To this end, a bibliographical research was carried out on Luiza Erundina, seeking to detect both aspects of her private life and her insertion and occupation of public space. The theoretical reflections are mainly supported by the following authors: Goffman (1978) and Biroli (2014). The study demonstrated how difficult it is for women to be included in spaces of power and highlights the importance that should be given to this character, due to her story of being the first woman elected to administer the city of São Paulo.
