Peça musical infantil de grande sucesso, transformada em longa metragem para um especial do dia das crianças na TV Bandeirantes, o filme utiliza a turma da Mônica e a obra de Shakespeare, numa linguagem metalinguística, para mostrar uma identificação cultural brasileira, a mesma defendida pelo movimento modernista, que envolve ritmos sonoros regionais e a arquitetura barroca da cidade de Ouro Preto (MG). |
| Abstract: | The main purpose of this article is to analyze the concept of Brazilian9s identity in 1978 film "Mônica e Cebolinha no mundo de Romeu e Julieta". A successful musical play that later became a long picture produced as a special show by TV Bandeirantes for children's day. The movie uses Monica9s gang and Shakespeare's play in a metalinguistic way to show how does the Brazilian culture manifest itself in contact with other cultures-which was defended by the Modernist movement4relating, thus, local rhythm and the Baroque architecture of Ouro Preto (MG-Brazil) to the Shakespearean canon. |
