Acessibilidade no campus sede UFCG: diagnósticos e recomendações.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the accessibility conditions at the Main Campus of the Federal University of Campina Grande, addressing the importance of access in public educational spaces, considering what the Brazilian Constitution guarantees: the right to education for all. Although Law N. 10.098/2000 established guidelines for promoting accessibility, the reality still shows that many higher education institutions do not meet this need, especially for People with Disabilities (PwD) and those with Reduced Mobility (RM). With the aid of the Universal Design concept, which aims for the inclusion and autonomy of all, the study seeks to understand the current state of accessibility in the pathways between Sectors A and C of the campus, as this area has accessibility challenges and inadequate infrastructure compared to other sectors. Using Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) methods, such as questionnaires and observations, as well as bibliographic review and quantitative data collection, the work identifies the main existing issues in the presented pathways. The results obtained show a range of problems encountered regarding the adaptation of space in terms of accessibility, summarized in Diagnosis and Recommendation Tables and Maps, aimed at highlighting the importance of applying accessibility standards in public educational spaces. It is expected that the recommendations formulated Will serve as a guide for evaluation, intending to encourage a restructuring of part of the campus, promoting a more accessible and inclusive environment, as well as reinforcing the importance of discussing this topic within the academic environment.
