Etnozoologia na escola: um relato de experiência com foco nos animais da caatinga.

Abstract

Ethnozoology is an area of Zoology that addresses the relationships between humans and animals, highlighting the knowledge that each population has regarding other species. Although Ethnozoology is a broad area of knowledge, there are problems in education that make teaching and learning Zoology difficult, such as subjects that are far from the students' reality. In this sense, this work aimed to describe the experiences lived about the ethnozoological perceptions about the animals of the caatinga during the extension project "Vamos Bio(cordear): olhares da literatura de cordel no ensino de Zoologia". The project took place in 2022 with 2nd grade high school students from classes A, B, C and D of public school (Cuité-PB), involving the subjects of History, Portuguese Language and Biology. Actions involving active methodologies aimed at knowledge of regional animals were carried out, through dynamic practices, such as the quiz game. The methods used during the project activities demonstrated that students showed interest in active practices, through participation and interaction. Furthermore, it was also observed that students expressed their perceptions regarding myths about caatinga animals, as well as traditional knowledge, evidencing their lack of knowledge regarding some animals from the region itself, which substantiates the inclusion of active teaching methodologies in school planning.
