Abstract

The debate that began in the country in the 1970s on the issue of women, arrives in the Brejo of Paraiba under the leadership of a group of rural workers, trained within the Pastoral of the Land. Her concern is to awaken in the women of religion an interest in matters related to her status as a WORKING WOMAN. The women's group, now called the Working Women's Movement (MMT), has made a great contribution to the process of building a new lifestyle for its members. The contribution of the Movement in the process of re-elaboration of knowledge is remarkable, whose ideas are structured around a new conception of life, in which the tribute is the perspective of reformulation of a thought whose prerogative was the annulment of the woman as subject. In the moment before entering the group, one has an immediate and individualized view of an unequal situation, placed as a natural one. The family relationship follows the traditional model and labor relations are not criticized. The moment the worker comes in contact with other women and begins to perceive her condition as a social issue, she goes into a process of revisiting her interior, whose peak will be the denial of naturalization in roles and the transformation of this naturalization into problematic. Current, homogeneous, critical and transformative thinking influences an innovative practice, contributing to the transformation of the spaces of action: the private and the public. This text is the end result of an analysis of the trajectory of a group of workers who coordinate the MMT, and appears in a perspective of contribution to the current debate on gender relations. The intention is to bring up a discussion about the process of changing the "lifestyle" of the coordinators of the MMT, punctuating the transformation that is established in their daily practices from the discovery of themselves as a political subject. The debate is built in tune with some theorists who had the concern of analyzing the dynamism of society starting from the study of representations. The study is, in fact, an initial discussion of our concerns about the issue of rural women.
