Olhares e saberes de produtores rurais da feira agroecológica de Sumé sobre solos e agroecologia.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to know the perception of the family farmers of the Agroecological Fair of Sumé-PB on soil and agroecology. The study consisted of a semistructured questionnaire with 10 questions that addressed the use, the practices of soil degradation and conservation. Twelve farmers participating in the Agroecological Fair participated in the research. The results indicate that farmers have a mature view of the soil and agroecological conservation practices, relating the color of the soil to fertility. The observations in the interviewees' speeches indicate the concern about taking care of the soil, not burning, not deforesting and not using agrochemicals in the agricultural production, but they show the absence of rural extension to disseminate the knowledge of agroecology science within family agriculture. It is understood, therefore, that perception studies are an important tool to understand the needs and potentialities of the rural people in dealing with the land. Past information and exchanges of experience among the various social actors make it possible to create and redesign the practices that can help in the management of the agroecosystems of the members of the Agroecological Fair of Sumé. In general, from the dialogues maintained, it is also evident the need for the extensionist intervention and the public power to perfect the dialogues on the agroecological transition in the region and to strengthen the preservation of natural resources.
