Abstract

This research had as objective to problematize about the influence of the Father Cicero in the their devotees, bearing in mind that, even with the reluctance of the accept the sanctity of the "Padim", continue to participate fervently in the pilgrimages, as they believe in their holiness and their supposed miracles. In the analysis, to bring to light the many ambiguities in the history of Father Cicero, show the many points of view about such a controversial figure. For this, I used as a methodological aid, Tompson who from the Marxist influences makes use of the cultural history, taking into account the recognition of historical and cultural their customs as practices relevant to their historical recognition. Thus, it uses the "cultural history." Bringing as the main focus figures that in one way or another ended up marking the daily lives of many others. Thus, it was used in this work the book by author Ralph Della Cava: Miracle in Joaseiro, the documentary entitled: Miracle in Juazeiro, with direction of Wolney, as also the book of Lira Neto - Father Cicero- Power, Faith and War in the Hinterland. In addition to some bibliographical references they gave me a basis for understanding the theme. Based on these analyzes, we sought to understand the influence of the figure of Father Cicero in the daily life of his faithful and the questions still unanswered about their supposed holiness, which are not accepted by the Church, but largely spread by its devotees.
