A cidade de Serra Branca – PB na percepção de seus moradores.

Abstract

It is an exploratory study of quantitative approach, whose objective was to evaluate how the city of Serra Branca, Paraíba presents itself in the perception of its residents. Defined as a geographical place where the political-administrative structure of a society is installed, the city is configured as a system of distribution and exchange, being formed by different segments and by human elements that perform different activities. In Brazil, before, there was a larger congregation of people in the great centers, a factor which greatly contributed to increase regional inequalities and trigger a series of social problems. Nowadays, a very different process is taking place: those who live in the small centers, most of the time, remain in them. And, for these move a good portion of the population of the great centers in search of 'refuge', of tranquility and peace. Faced with this new reality, people living in inner cities began to perceive urban spaces in a different way, evaluating what they have and indicating what they need to be more pleasant. Defined by the interviewees as being a lively and festive city, without the stress of everyday urban life, Serra Branca has common needs in the inner cities of the Brazilian Northeast, requiring greater action on the part of its rulers to have not only greater development but also for Ensure that its population has a better quality of life. It was verified that among the interviewees, the understanding that the existence of more local jobs would also contribute to the improvement of these parameters.
