Abstract

This dissertation deals with the optimization of the movement of the passengers in the Bus Terminal Station of Campina Grande in the State of Paraíba. The development of the system for data collection and explained and presented the methodology for the storage and retrieval of data. The mathematical model developed to simulate various geometric arrangements of Terminal Station facilities, and discussed, and its limitation is emphasized. The analysis of the collected data shows that the facilities of the Terminal Station are mainly used by passengers "leaving" Campina Grande and passengers "in transit". Therefore the model considers only passengers leaving and in transit. It is shown that two facilities arrangements can improve the the "layout" of the Terminal due to the minimum distance a passenger travels. The methodology developed for data collection, storage and retrieval as well as the mathematical model can be used to optimize similar problems.
