Alba Costa: do pó de giz aos decretos legislativos, os desafios de ser vereadora em Cajazeiras.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the female participation in the politics in Cajazeiras, PB, in the period from 1983 to 1988, taking as reference the performance of Maria Alba C. de Ataíde in the city hall while democratically elected counselor. I seek to thematize and problematize the mechanisms that sustain and weave the performance of political parties and how this context has cultural, political, social and gender implications. The analysis is based on a historical-social, descriptive and quantitative perspective. It is supported on documental and bibliographical analysis, showing the variables of the insertion and the presence and Alba Costa’s trajectory in politics, seeking to understand the elaborations and re-elaborations instituted, the main challenges faced, taking into account, above all, that relations between men and women are social relationships and therefore historical.
