Abstract

My research aims to analyze some cases involving domestic violence against women in the municipality of São José de Piranhas in the 1930s. It seeks to focus on the positioning of justice and society in the midst of conflicts involving marital relations in the period here focused. For this I used two criminal proceedings taken from the Hamilton de Souza Neves Forum of this municipality and with the help of some bibliographic references, I made a comparison between these and the discourses that come from the main institutions that govern our society, so that we can then To understand, what were the discourses that medicine propagated regarding the woman's body, and what was the Church's position regarding her behavior, in the condition of “queen of the home”, submissive to her husband?.
