Abstract

For a long time the woman was left out by the society that made her unable to participate in relevant episodes of the social environment. The participation of women was repressed could not exert any prominent role that was not domestic. Couldn’t work outside home, neither in politics, not vote for their representatives, and couldn’t exercise a political office. Gradually the woman was earning considerable space beyond the family issues. This paper makes a survey of women's participation in politics, bringing experiences of former and current councilors of three (3) municipalities of Cariri Paraibano: Livramento, Taperoá e Sumé. The work covers the history of struggles and achievements of women in political participation, the reasons for which a woman pleads this load, noting his performance in the municipal legislature, checks that these representatives are doing to improve and care for the woman, checking the contributions they bring to female society. Getting an index of female parliamentary representatives throughout Paraiba cariri.
