Abstract

Due to the popularization of the Internet, the concern about access to information equally by all members of society has increased. Nowadays, most Web applications have accessibility barriers that complicate the use of Web by several people with disabilities. This study aimed to propose a multidimensional approach to assessing the accessibility of Web systems based on three evaluation dimensions, namely: (i) standards inspection, (ii) user performance measurement, and (iii) estimation of subjective user satisfaction. The validation of the methodology was accomplished through a case study involving the evaluation of the accessibility of a website built upon Joomla framework. In this study, it was compared the results of tests involving groups of participants classified according to their particular needs and level of experience with computer systems. Results from experimental tests carried out to validate the methodology corroborate the assumption that the triangulation of techniques produce more robust and complementary results.
