Abstract

This thesis has aimed to analyze the relationship between a religious and political party , specifically the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the city of Santa Cruz , interior of Paraíba . We analyze and understand whether the party in question was appropriated by local politicians and what strategies the same used to move within the sacred space and profane. Our analysis was to thread the auction that takes place during the party , we analyze two distinct social phenomenon that in the years 2012 and 2013 respectively moments , and then understand how the drives were provided on specific time of the auction. To understand this process , we interviewed and subsequently analyzed the speeches of local politicians and citizens - Santa cruzenses . All our effort was guided by the technique of participant observation and semi -structured questionnaires . The reunion with the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus , enabled us to look at and expanding the understanding of the meanings of Party, religion and politics at víeis culture .
