Visão dos estudantes de enfermagem acerca da segurança do paciente: prevenção de quedas.

Abstract

Fall in hospitalized patients negatively contribute to themselves and the institution, it can get worse the condition of the patient, therefore increasing their time in the hospital, and then it can generate an increase in expenses for patient recovery, besides to get repercussions with legal order. The Protocol Falls is one of the National Patient Safety Prevention Program, established by Decree No. 529 of April, 1st 2013, with actions to hospitals and it aims to reduce its occurrence through implementation risk assessment measures, ensuring a safe environment, multidisciplinary care and providing patient education, family and health professionals. In this sense, this study has the general objective to investigate the knowledge of nursing students about patient safety in preventing falls. This is an exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach, developed into an education institution with nursing students from the 7th and 8th period, currently registered. After approval by the Ethics Committee in Research with opinion No. 1,478,167, the data were collected in March and April by an interview guided by a semi-structured form. The data of the objective questions were presented in tables and subjective questions were organized and categorized according to Bardin analysis technique and analyzed in the light of the relevant literature the theme. The research followed the principles of Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council. Seventeen students between 18 and 35 years old participated of the research and it has been found that the number of men and women was similar and none of them reported participation in some form of training theme, even those who reported have or have had ties with health institutions. The results of this research revealed that the students interviewed have knowledge about the risk factors. Regarding prevention, refer to the necessary behaviors to reduce the risk. When investigated on nursing care in the occurrence of falls, they know that the first thing is to examine the patient for injuries and report the incident, but they are unaware of the current legislation. They stressed that the basis of theoretical and practical training provided the experience in patient safety in the prevention of falls in hospitals. As a result, it’s necessary to expand the knowledge acquired in the classroom, transforming them into knowledge thrusters.
