| ???metadata.dc.description.resumo???: | Este trabalho busca analisar a temática do abandono familiar retratado na peça The Glass Menagerie (1946), de Tennessee Williams (1911–1983), sob a perspectiva do estudo da personalidade com base na teoria psicanalítica de Freud. O objetivo é apresentar uma análise comparativa da obra com aspectos autobiográficos do autor, mostrando a correlação existente entre Williams e sua família e os principais personagens do drama. Enfim, a pesquisa almeja compreender certos comportamentos nesses personagens, sob a luz dos mecanismos de defesa do ego, e os três elementos da personalidade humana (id, ego e superego). Para isso, a psicologia freudiana será uma ponte para melhor compreensão do conflito familiar na peça. Os fundamentos analíticos partem dos conceitos e das teorias de Freud (2016), sua filha Ana Freud (2006), Silva (2010), dentre outros. |
| Abstract: | This study analyzes the theme of family abandonment portrayed in Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie (1946), under the perspective of the study of personality based on Freud's psychoanalytic theory. The objective is to present a comparative analysis of the work with autobiographical aspects of the author by showing the correlation between Williams and his family and the main characters in the drama. Finally, the research seeks to understand some behaviors in these characters, under the light of ego’s defense mechanisms, and the three elements of the human personality (id, ego and superego). For this, Freudian psychology will be a bridge to a better understanding of the family conflict in the play. The analytical foundations come from the concepts and theories of Freud (1923), his daughter Ana Freud (2006), Silva (2010), and others. |
