Uma análise da variação linguística no livro didático do 6º ano do ensino fundamental.

Abstract

The language for being social is multiple, diverse, heterogeneous and should not be qualified as dead, so it must be reflected and studied. The objective of this research is to analyze how the textbook of the 6th grade of Basic Education, Português Linguagens, by the authors William Roberto Cereja and Thereza Cochar Magalhães, deals with the theme of linguistic variation. In order to carry out the research, we discuss relevant concepts regarding linguistic variation, we chose the Portuguese Language Textbook as the corpus of research analysis, we describe and interpret the treatment given by the Textbook to linguistic variation. This research is based on the ideals of the variationist sociolinguistics of William Labov ([1972] 2008) and of other researchers who corroborate with the theme, besides the Portuguese NCPs. In this way, linguistic variations start from the interaction of subjects in society and have a collective character, full of social and cultural meanings. In view of this, the research is documentary, of a descriptive and quantitative nature. The research found that the Textbook analyzed deals with the theme of linguistic variation in only one chapter among the twelve that compose it, which corresponds to 8.3%. The analysis enabled us to note that the standard norm prevails during the frequent practice of teaching. In this sense, the learner is induced to have pleasure only by the use of rules and possibly discarding words that do not fit this norm.
