Abstract

This study concerning the teaching of African History and Afro-Brazilian Culture was intended to show the erroneous view that schools and textbooks convey on the subject to his students how points are still not being fulfilled this law and points out the difficulties that schools are for its implementation, particularly with regard to the lack of training of teachers to work this theme, but also by the fact that most educators do not recognize or accommodate themselves to the difficulties that may facilitate the understanding of history Brazilian. Racist and prejudiced ideologies, transmitted to students to totally distorted manner and the importance of black Africans in the construction process and formation of Brazilian culture and this is a way to have them broken. Through this research entitled "The teaching of African History and Afro-Brazilian culture in elementary school, in Bonito town of Santa Fe - PB," which aims to identify the teachers' why do not work effectively in the teaching of History and Afro-Brazilian Culture in the classroom, but also know what are the major difficulties faced in the implementation of Law 10.639 / 2003. The survey was conducted in three public elementary schools I the Beautiful city of Santa Fe - PB. Research subjects were ten teachers who were in the classroom in the elementary school initial series I.
