Influência da religião no planejamento familiar.

Abstract

The theme Planned Parenthood has generated controversy among various segments of society and the state, for example, in some religions, which can interfere with the decision of the couple as the family constitution. The nurses of the Family Health Strategy has as one of its responsibilities, develop family planning activities. The research is aimed at investigating the influence of religion on family planning users of Primary Health Care and ways to approach on this issue by the nurses of the Family Health Strategy. It is exploratory qualitative approach developed in three units of the Family Health City Cajazeiras – Paraíba, with thirty registered users in Family Planning program. After signing the agreement, they answered a semistructured interview in June two thousand and twelve, which was recorded and later transcribed, organized by the technique of content analysis thematically, and analyzed according to the literature. The research followed the recommendations of Resolution one hundred ninety-six ninety-six of the National Health Council / Ministry of Health The results showed that the age of the participants ranged between eighteen and fifty years, twenty-seven were women, twenty- Married five, twenty Catholics and others followed Candomble, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, Presbyterian, Congregational, Jehovah’s Witness or Baptist. Religion did not influence the choice of family planning method of the participants, but they knew and respected the precepts and teachings of their religions. Regarding the role of nurses in family planning, there were gaps in the approach of religion on the choice of family planning during consultations, according to those interviewed. It is considered that religion was not the main factor for the choice of the couple on the right time to plan a pregnancy or not, which shows a different reality of the times when people followed without question, the decisions and guidelines of their respective religions.
