Résumé:
This study seeks to contribute to the history of country education in the state of Paraíba, which
covers several other regions through oral reports from alumni, teachers and principals who
were part of the Professor Crispim Coelho State College, of Cajazeiras
(PB), starting point of the research carried out, as well as making analyzes of part of the
of the institution, from the year 1961, when it was founded, until 1980,
totaling almost two decades of operation. For the Cajazeiras historiography
endorse the municipality as a pole in the area of education, the study on
educational institution is necessary and essential, as it will serve as a guide for the construction
a historical dialogue between the sources used and the importance of installing the old
high school (present high school) directed to the public education of the popular classes
less fortunate and diverse workers through the creation of the State College, as is
popularly known, which came to add teaching quality and competitiveness with
private educational institutions already in existence at the time, such as the Nossa Senhora de
Lourdes (former College of the Dorothéas Sisters) and the Diocesan College Father Rolim, two
traditional educational houses of the “land that taught Paraíba to read”.
