Resumo:
The pond is an environment where water is retained, it can be natural or even built by man, usually presenting watershed in its formation. This paper arose with the opportunity of analysis, with the objective of characterizing the historical aspects contributors to pollution, but also investigate the use and degradation related to the urban Cuité-Paraíba pond, being presented results through the experienced and assisted description by local residents who were able to observe the processes of transformation in this environment. Using the information acquired through existing knowledge of the locals what made possible records through oral history with recorded and transcribed interviews, allowing by these means a better characterization of the environment in study with the aim of systematizing, relate and contextualize their knowledge that show clearly the effective human interventions contributors to pollution in the pond, and thus to support the contextualization of Biology with the reality of the environment inserted.
