Environmental education is a key which link the chain of actions toward a sustainable society and a tool for awareness. Thus, it is of utmost importance to the training of professionals involved with the teaching and learning contents of marine fauna, to discuss and form opinions about the environmental, biological and conservation issues. This study aimed to describe the contents of Marine Biology in the textbooks of some schools in the city of Cuité - PB. Books, textbooks (including handouts) of the high school classes were worked. In addition, interviews were conducted with the teachers to identify possible difficulties faced by teachers of the area with regard to the topic discussed. The data of the textbooks were worked qualitatively using descriptive analysis. The quantitative approach to some aspects of the analysis of the textbook and some points of the interviews with teachers was conducted using descriptive statistics (by determining percentages). The books analyzed in this research work the thematic Marine Biology on the manner similar and disjointed, discussing some relevant characteristics, exploring superficially themes that interviewees teachers consider important, compared to the proposals suggested by the PCN's BIO, there is a failure especially in the questions that was cited environmental education in the marine ecosystem, where it is treated as a transverse theme, and worked only in science fairs.
