Resumo:
As the studies about smectitic clays dispersions for diaphragm walls
are reduced, a wider analysis of its characteristics became necessary. This
work relates the reologic characteristics that smectitic clays dispersions
should have to be used in diaphragm wall constructions. Six samples of
sodic smectitic clay manufactured in the state of Paraiba and two
samples of policationic smectitic clays, were transformed into sodic
smectities in laboratory and studied the additives Espercene, XP-20 and
carboximethicellulose on those samples. Finally, this work correlates the data
obtained by the Marsh viscometer with the ones obtained by the rotational
viscometer Fann 35-A.
The characteristics of the slurry studied were; Marsh viscosity,
apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, yeld point, filtrate, cake, pH and humidity.
In this context, the results indicated that smectitic clays from Boa Vista - PB
had the characteristics for diaphragm wall construction.
