Resumo:
The monograph has as objective to analyze the professional formation of Maria do Disterro, a
teacher of the public and basic education of state of Paraíba at Cajazeiras city, through a
biographical narrative, prioritizing the daily issues of the context in which the biography is
inserted. Using the experience of the teacher, documentary and iconographic sources, we used
a theoretical arrangement and a carefull methodological to qualify the narrative analyzed. In
the investigative process we are going to perceive the teacher's individual gaze about the past
that has been experienced, in spaces where her perception evokes the collective image of the
same in consonance with the reconstruction of her youth. The young teacher and these spaces,
belong to a series of collective representations, that make up the center of problematizations,
discussing the limited structure of spaces for women in the educational field of the 1980s.
Therefore, from the propositions categorical genres presented by Joan Scott, we will
understand the social relations that constitute the professional role of Disterro and the
teaching identity assumed by her.
