Resumen:
The Brazilian Psychiatric Reform carried initially by the Movement of Workers in Mental Health and currently the Anti-Asylum Movement , began in the late 1970s , with critical questions about the psychiatric knowledge and practices , with allegations of mistreatment to patients and the commercialization of health . It is a complex process and construction, with the main objective to overcome the model " hospital-centered " and the creation of substitute services anchored in the construction of autonomy , citizenship , social inclusion and effective care and integral to users with psychological distress . The study aims to investigate the working of Therapeutic Residential Services ( SRT ) , and verify that these devices allow the construction of autonomy of residents and describe some life stories of the residents of these services . This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach . For data collection were used documents as records of users / residents of SRT , record the workshops and therapeutic activities performed in CAPS II , observation and interviews with the coordinators and members of the SRTand CAPS II . The results indicate that the SRT has a timid stance towards the achievement of autonomy and rehabilitation of the user / occupant. Residents are encouraged to self care little for the development of activities of daily living and to circulate in the spaces of the city . This is due to lack of experience , awareness and lack of qualified professionals to handle / understand the resident / user in psychological distress. It is understood that despite the weaknesses and limitations of the SRT , it is possible , from a new attitude and skills of professionals working in these exercise devices and clinical practices that stimulate the production of ties , weave powerful and effective meetings with spaces of the city and are producing life and freedom.
