A importância da imagem no processo de ensino e de aprendizagem da geografia escolar.

Abstract

The present work has as theme The importance of the image in the process of teaching and learning of the school geography. The choice of this subject has came from through the supervised stages, where we realized the need to explore the image in Geography classes, and also through the professional exercise as a teacher of the 6th grade of elementary school, where we verified how significant this resource for the teaching and understanding of the contents of the Geography discipline. The construction of this work encompassed a theoretical framework based on reading of dissertations, theses, articles, books and monographs on the subject, and also by the classroom peformance that allowed the observations and analyzes of students' performance in the activities developed with the suport of images, making it possible to collect the data and to demonstrate the results. This monograph aims to analyze the importance of the use of the image in the teaching of school geography, and for this purpose it presents discussions about image definition, image as a means of information, the role of the teacher in mediation between the student and the study of the image and the importance of school experience for teacher training, evidencing an experience report that presents the use of the image in the teaching of three themes - landscape, cartographic representations and biosphere. At the end of the research, we can conclude that the image is a didactic resource that allows the students to understand their lived space and as of this to understand the world in its social and natural dynamics. We hope, wherefore, that this work will serve as a reflection so that other teachers/researchers know the relevance of complementing the textbook with other resources, especially the image.
