teachers to assess their students and what contributions this assessment practice for cognitive
development of the student in order to show the importance of evaluating mediator for quality

explaining that evaluating is a complex task that involves several dimensions. It will also be
discussed the main ideas of some authors and researchers in the field of educational
assessment, thereby contributing to better understanding of the subject. In this study we

Fundamental Professor Francisco Cassiano Sobrinho, in the town of Poço de José de Moura,
through a questionnaire, to know and understand their concepts and practices evaluation.
Thus, as it was also analyzed using a questionnaire to the students' opinions about the
evaluation process developed in the classroom. The data obtained showed a lack of teacher
knowledge about the dimensions and the evaluation process, showing that the educator uses
the test as the main tool to assess their students, developing, evaluating classification. This
research aims to show that the assessment should be practiced in a mediator way, continuous
and democratic, considering that the act must assess is linked to the act of educating.
