Résumé:
This study aimed to investigate how elementary school teachers are mediating the teaching of reading.
To further detail this general objective, we sought to identify the conceptions of reading teachers;
know the reading activities implemented by the teacher; observe the time spent for the development of
reading and, finally, reflect on the mediation in the teaching of reading. In seeking to meet the
proposed objectives, we performed a literature search. It was also necessary to go into the field to get
to know the work of teachers in relation to reading. This study was conducted in school Noel Alves de
Oliveira, in classes of 3rd, 4th and 5th year of primary school in the municipality of Vieirópolis. This
research was subject 53 students and 03 teachers. The study allows to reach the following conclusion:
that elementary school teachers need to improve the mediation work of reading, encouraging students
to appreciate reading, considering that reading is an opportunity, among many, that life offers us
which enables better living conditions, live with dignity and equality, without corrupting or harming
anyone, is a very important act that leads to the development of people in all aspects, social, cultural
and intellectual, turning them into citizens freer and aware rights and duties towards society.
