Résumé:
This work aims to propose the use of Cordel literature as a didactic-methodological tool
for teaching geography. Cordel is a popular narrative and rimed poetry, about diverse
themes, printed in booklets. Themes about social and environmental issues might be
used for the discussion and understanding of the Geography categories, contributing to
the classes of this discipline. During this study, we evidenced the possibility to create
links between the school and popular knowledge in the construction of new knowledge.
The object of this study was four Cordel booklets which address environmental issues,
analyzed together with other scientific productions. Correlating the Cordel booklets
with the environment school subjects, we pointed out didactic proposals for using this
material. Our analysis highlight the potential and viability use of the popular poetry
from Cordel booklets to complement and enrich the scholar textbooks and as a tool for
interdisciplinary classrooms.
