We live in an information-mediated society where many are connected, mostly via the internet.
As the internet is able to bring together all and all, its use is important in the current scenario of
national education, a scenario that seeks improvements in ways of teaching and learning. This
work emerged from the experiences of supervised internships in public schools in the city of
Cajazeiras-PB, which inspired us to nurture a more attentive look at the current school
dynamics. During the experience of each stage of the Supervised Geography Internship in the
period from February 2016 to September 2017, it was possible to perceive that the welcoming
schools had computer labs, but during the course of their activities they did not show signs of
use by part of the school community. Considering the internet as a facilitator of the teaching
process, this work aims to investigate the existence and the ways of using computer labs in the
municipal public education network of the city of Cajazeiras-PB and, from these, the
consequent use of the internet as collaborative tool in the teaching process, in Geography
classes. Selected according to the level of education they work, we map out the nine schools in
the city that work with the final years of the fundamental, and then apply two models of
questionnaires, one with the nine teachers of geography and the other with the nine managers
of the respective schools. With the data collected, treated and analyzed and with the theoretical
support of several authors, we noticed that in the schools participating in the research, the use
of the internet as a methodological resource is out of date, thus requiring a greater incentive
from the municipal public administration. Thus, continuing training on TIC, the presence of
technicians in laboratories and physical resources in good conditions, are indispensable items
for the use of the internet as a methodological resource in Geography classes.
