Abstract:
The use of NiTi alloys surface treated, allows to combine the characteristics of
the alloy in a study of the characteristics of the coating to be formed on the
surface of the base material. In this study the kinetics of corrosion and features
found in each NiTi alloy with different composition to better approach the
problem by analyzing not only superficially treated surfaces, as well as those
who experienced no change. Therefore, the electrochemical behavior of NiTi
alloys was verified in a way that closely resembles the bodily conditions. From
electrochemical tests, it was possible to compare the results between the alloys
under study. Besides the methods employed to study the electrochemical
corrosion resistance of alloys of NiTi, were also used assay methods in
quantification of surface modifications coming from the treatments. It was
observed throughout this work the resistance that the material to base nitinol
have, when subjected to test in a solution of Hank's that closely resembles the
blood, as well as using a temperature around 37 ° C which is normally the
temperature found in human body and it is observed a good durability of the
material. The tests used in the analysis of the changes occurring on the surface
of the samples revealed changes caused when the surface undergoes
irradiation by laser beam according to each alloy composition and the possible
damage that may result in degradation of the material.
