Resumen:
The aim of this Dissertationis to discuss the theme of the types of ascesis – Intra and Extramundana – in contemporary Catholicism, from the study of narratives about the theodics and meanings of the experiences of practice of Catholicism built by members of life and Alliance of the Catholic Community Shalom, specifically in the mission of Campina Grande. This organization is the result of the emergence of the new communities, in the context of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, from the decade of 1980 in Brazil. It is observed in these communities a replication of the models of action and ethics, approaching the pattern of Intramundanascesis of Protestants, as discussed in typical terms-ideal by Weber, as well as the model of Extramundanascesis in a moderate manner. From a qualitative research, we seek on the one hand, answers about the ascetic experiences of the members of the selected community to understand the models of ' separation of the world ' in contemporary Catholicism, comparing also the two forms of Experiences within the same community. Visits, follow-up and observations of some of its main rituals were carried out, as well as conversations and interviews with members/participants of the aforementioned community. Among the main perceptionsof the work, we highlight the following: (1) existed over time an adaptation of Catholicism the needs of modernity; (2) The community exercise contributes to the permanence of members in the community; and (3) the self-perception and experience of asceticism undergo varying degrees of dedication.
