In the present work, based on TM / LANDSAT-5 images
From 1984 to 1990, a survey of the current land use, drainage and dams and a geological and structural study were carried out to delimit areas favorable for groundwater research. To this end, a systematic Interpretation of
low spatial resolution data based on images
TM / LANDSAT-5. As a result, two classes of
land use: the Agricultural Use class, where large properties (> 300ha) were identified, with intense agricultural activity; medium-sized properties (30-300 ha), with diversified agricultural activity and small properties
(<30ha), where subsistence activities predominate and the class
Natural vegetation. The drainage analysis showed that it has a dendritic pattern, with strong structural control, characterizing the precambrian rocks of the Cristalino Basement. In terms of bodies of water, we considered the Sumé and São Paulo dams as "large dams". Six "mid-size dams" and 198 "small dams" were highlighted. The temporal analysis
showed that there was an expansion of large properties,
resulting from the incorporation of areas previously occupied by natural vegetation. The construction of 1 large, 1 medium and 75 small reservoir was built. In the 1984 image all
dams were full, a fact not observed in the 1990 image,
although rainfall was above average in the region. In the study of the fracturing of the Crystalline Basement, 8 directions were defined, which when analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, showed that the defined faults are contemporary, very old and of polyative character. Two shear zones were also identified in the region, one of which was of the general direction EW, parallel to sub-parallel to the
Patos and Pernambuco lineaments and one of sinister nature
Direction Close to N60 ° W. Thirteen favorable areas for groundwater research were identified, being related to crossings of open and hybrid structures, such as joints and faults.
Data integration showed that the construction of new dams
should be discouraged, prioritizing well drilling
deep and / or amazon. In terms of irrigation, the use of
groundwater has restrictions due to its quality and the
low well flow. however, they are almost always suitable for
animal consumption and useless to human consumption.
