Pragas do cafeeiro: caracterização morfológica, bioecologia, prejuízos e manejo.

Abstract

Coffee (Coffea sp.) Is a crop of great economic importance and stands out as one of the most important agricultural commodities for the Brazilian trade balance. In the world scenario, Brazil occupies the prominent position as main producer and exporter of coffee, however, countries like Colombia, Vietnam and Indonesia are direct currents of the Brazilian product, making the Brazilian coffee growers are in constant search for innovations. As with any other high value-added crop, coffee farms are attacked by many pests, and proper management of these pests is critical to successful production. Among them, pest insects and mites stand out, which cause direct and indirect damage to the plant. Among the pests of economic importance for coffee, we can highlight the coffee borer [(Hypothenemus hampei), (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)], the Miner Bug [(Leucoptera coffeella), (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)] and the Red Mite [(Oligonychus ilicis), (Acari: Tetranychidae)]. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a literature review with the key pests of coffee culture, gathering information on morphological, bioecological characteristics, major damage caused and management techniques more appropriate for each of them.
