O cuidar de idosos numa instituição de longa permanência: interfaces entre satisfação e sobrecarga laboral.

Abstract

Population aging is a complex phenomenon that reaches around the world and involves a number of social, political and cultural. In this scenario, it is evident the caregiver, understood as that which assists an individual weakened, requiring temporary or definitive care. Thus, it becomes essential to analyze the existence of overhead in formal and informal caregivers who assist the elderly in a long-stay institution (ILP), the Municipality of Cuite, which is the objective of this research. This is a research descriptive, exploratory qualitative approach, developed at an institution of Long Term Elderly Municipality of Cuite-PB. To collect data, we used a semi- structured form, which is based on the inventory of Caregiver Overload, consisting subjective questions that aimed to meet the study objectives. Sample was composed of ten (10) formal and informal carers of older people attending the institution, were selected from the inclusion criteria. After verbatim transcription of the interviews, these were organized by the technique of thematic content analysis. Therefore, the contents of the data collected provided the identification of 03 (three) categories of analysis they are: Understanding of elderly caregivers working in ILP about the assistance to institutionalized elderly; Implications of elderly care, family life, economic social and caregivers; Reflections on the existence of extra work and its effect on physical and mental condition. The research followed the ethical precepts of force and was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. The results show that, before the act of caring for the elderly, professionals are able to find incriminating evidence and cited the need to be ever vigilant to the emergence of events and changes in physical, psychological harm your health as a caregiver. Thus, the data showed a minimal workload that did not interfere significantly in social and family relationships established. From this perspective, it is concluded that caregivers should be prepared to deal with aging and realize they need care, since they are exposed to stress, physical fatigue are factors triggering a possible overload.
