Resumo:
In order to indicate, for irrigated areas of Paraíba State, the most viable rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.), an experiment was carried out at the São GonçaIo - Souza - Pb Irrigated Perimeter Experimental Station, involving the cultivars DIWANI, BG-90-2, CIC A-9, IET-2881, B541b-Pn-58-5-3-1b, BR-IRGA-409, BR-5 1-5-4-2 L-4440, together with IR-841-63-5-L-9-33, is currently the most widely used cultivar in irrigated areas of the state, known as IR-841. The experimental design adopted was that of randomized blocks with 9 (nine) treatments and 4 (four) repetitions, under the same soil and climate conditions and receiving the same levels of fertilizers. For the evaluation of the behavior of the various rice cultivars, parameters such as such as plant height, root length, leaf area index, panicle weight / m2, full grain / panicle number, 1,000 grain weight and grain yield. Except for leaf area index, all other parameters vary significantly between cultivars. The cultivars tested showed high yield potentials, with yields approximately 2 (two) times higher than the averages currently obtained in irrigated areas of the Northeast. The variation in productivity (t / ha) between cultivars was as follows: L-4440 (9.73)> B541b-Pn-58-5-3-lb (9.47)> BG 90-2 (9.43)> IR-841 -63-5-L-9-33 (8.90)> IET-2881 (8.46)> CICA-9 (8.25)> BR-51-54-2- (7.87)> DIWANI ( 7.73)> BR-IRGA-409 (7.51). Variance analysis of yields indicated significant difference at 1% probability level only between cultivars L4440 and BR-51-54 -2, DIWANI and BR-I RGA-409-

low, but taking into account characteristics such as: size, water consumption, precocity, number of full grains / panicle and especially the qualities of the grains, such as translucent white coloration, elongated shape, "loosening" during cooking "pot yield" and flavoring, are being preliminarily recommended for São Gongalo-Pb Irrigated Perimeter and other irrigated areas of State.
