Given the amount or volume of agricultural residues generated that are sufficient to cause variable damage to the environment, these residues are being rice husks. Consumption of rice grains in the world for 2015/2016 was 2,049.8 million tons annually. Corresponding to Brazil with 12.6 Mt a-1, representing the 9th position as world producer. In the beneficiation process 20% represents rice husk, that is, 2.52 Mt a-1 is only rice husks. On the other hand, industrial effluents containing methylene blue, which is an organic dye, should be treated to comply with environmental laws so as not to cause negative impacts to the receiving body. The adsorption technique is usually more applied to remove organic pollutants and heavy metals. For this reason, the present work aimed to make use of fresh and modified rice husk in order to evaluate which is the best biosorbent most efficient. It is concluded that when analyzing energy expenditure and cost benefit in an industrial application, the best way under the studied conditions is the use of fresh rice husk.
