Resumen:
The present work has as objective to study the
performance of a prototype of an electrodialysis reactor for the purpose of
desalination of sodium chloride solutions via electrodialysis. O
reactor has been studied for two types of flow systems:
tortuous and linear. The main parameters investigated for both
systems were as follows: effect of electric potential as a function of
power flow, current density, ohmic resistance,
current efficiency, potability time and energy consumption.
It has been observed that energy consumption decreases as the
feed flow increases. While the time when the
saline remains under continuous circulation during the process
until it reached a concentration in the potability range, it varied
decreasing for the tortuous outflow system and increasing for the
linear flow system as a function of feed flow.
