Résumé:
The Bolsa Família Program is a social policy of conditional direct income transfer, designed to alleviate immediate needs and minimize the effects of social inequality and improve the lives of families in poverty and extreme poverty in Brazil. Within this context, the general objective of the study was to analyze the Bolsa Família Program in the city of Sumé-PB, between 2004-2019. Methodologically, the work was configured as explanatory for the research objective; as bibliographic and documentary in relation to procedures in data collection; and qualitative as to how to approach and answer the problem. It appears that the data used came exclusively from formal sources, such as the website of the Bolsa Família Program's Single Registry, which is allocated to the Special Secretariat for Social Development of the Ministry of Citizenship (MDS). The results, in turn, showed as a trajectory the progressive increase in the total number of benefited families and in the amounts paid, which demonstrates the palliative fight against poverty and misery in the municipality. As a concluding note, it is found that the education and health conditionalities established for the receipt of benefits were met (even exceeding the proposed goals).
