Resumo:
Electric energy is essential for the society development. Nowadays, quality is one of
its main characteristics. Following a world tendency, the Brazilian society has been
increasing its demand in relation to Power Quality (PQ) in a supply level through setting
and controling evaluation indexes. This study makes an evaluation of PQ indexes in
Campina Grande city, supplied by Companhia Energetica da Borborema-CELB. The data
used for the index calculation correspond to the periods of 1996, 1997 and 1998. The study
carried out a PQ review in Brazil classifies the disturbance causes in electric systems and
presents the main orders that regulate quality at the supply level. Comparisons are made
among local figures for some indexes and values found at other countries. Each index
employed in the study is defined with its characteristics and mathematical expressions. The
data collection procedures and the evaluation of the indexes are described. From the
obtained results come considerations on the power quality and the causes that contribute for
its degradation are put forward. The conclusions indicate improvement possibilities for the
PQ and suggest more efficient procedures in the data gathering procedures for the index
calculation.
