Abstract:
Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a metabolic syndrome resulting from the progressive loss of the ability of renal excretion, considered nowadays as a chronic disease of high morbidity and mortality rates and responsible for causing limitations and changes of great social and emotional impact, preceptors of negative feelings. This special feature inherent to IRC demand the need for a deeper understanding about the possible depressive symptoms presented by patients. The objectives of this research were: to identify the depressive feelings associated with the IRC and the hemodialysis treatment; and investigate coping strategies used by patients to overcoming these feelings. Be in from a field study of an exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative approach, developed with 27 patients accompanied by General Hospital and Maternity Dr. Edgley situated in the city of Campina Grande - PB. The data were collected, after favorable opinion no. 346,928 of Research Ethics Committee of the University Hospital Alcides Carneiro, using semistructured interviews and analyzed according to the technique of the collective subject discourse. From the construction of central ideas became evident that participants perceive the hemodialysis as a therapeutic resource generator of difficulties, limitations and changes in life style. Feelings such as sadness, anger, stress, impatience and agitation have been reported, which are arising from the constraints imposed by the disease, are food or social. As a coping strategy to greater if self accept and performs activities of distraction. The family and friends were the most cited as support to cope with the disease. The chronicity of the IR and the emotional impacts caused in the lives of patients refer to the need for construction and implementation of health care strategies, especially by nursing professionals, directed the minimization of factors that predispose to the onset of depressive feelings. Nevertheless, the public policies for this population segment deserve to be valued in order to promote improved levels of quality of life.
