Resumo:
The increasing importance of emerging markets, such as China and
Brazil, has pushed many small and medium-sized (SM) software companies to
examine the global market in order to expand their boundaries and capabilities.
Although the qualifications of these markets and their influences in the software
production process are still not well understood, cross-cultural development and
virtual organization are being required, emphasizing the need for strategic
thinking and collaborative work. In this perspective, appropriate decision support
systems (DSS) will play an important role to allow the companies to better select o
route of alternative actions by using both IT technologies and advanced system
theories.
A multi-objective value analysis based model is introduced here to assess multiobjective,
uncertain, and ill-posed problems that SM software companies might be
able of responding within a continuously changing and unpredictable
environment. A system prototype - ACTION-DM, which applies analytical
hierarchy process (AHP), was developed to enable synthetic decision making.
Case studies are also presented to illustrate the application usefulness of the
model.
