Resumo:
The present work aims to perform an analysis and comparison of some extra long line compensation methods. For two lines of lengths equal to 1000 km and 1800 km, three different forms of compensation are employed: in the first, the lines are electrically shortened by the use of series capacitors and inductive shunt reactors. In the second, the lines are artificially stretched to about half a wavelength by series reactors and capacitors in parallel, constituting n sections installed at their ends. The third method also extends the lines to just over half a wave, which is accomplished by installing capacitors
along them at regular intervals.
