Abstract:
Reduced components electrical machine, become more and more important in the
universe that forms industrial electronics and electrical machine drive due to factors
related with cost and size of the system.
Despite of drive systems with reduced number of semiconductors devices being well
known in the literature, these systems introduce some drawbacks in specific applications,
example when there exists need of size decreasing of the drive system or when
demand for cost reduction.
A very usual strategy for reduced components drive systems is sharing of one converter's
leg among the rectifier unity and the inverter unity, in this way one can get
eliminate two switches of the drive system, however, this method (technique) lead to
constraints related with voltage capability converter.
The decreasing in the number components can become indispensable, especially
in applications with multiple machines because exists a direct relation between the
increasing the amount of machines and the need increase the number of components
to drive them.
To discuss each point previously mentioned, this work addresses reduced components
drive systems in a general way. The mentioned reduction is referred to the
decreasing of number of semiconductors devices as well as boost inductors filters so
that the reduction of the first will have a greater impact in the size of the system while
the reduction of semiconductors will result economy. This work presents ten different
topologies for drive systems machine with reduced number of boost inductors filters.
Is proposed a machine drive strategy which allows these topologies operate with the
same voltage levels of a similar full-bridge converter, however there is the drawback of
restrain it to specific applications.
