Resumen:
The work provides the relationship between people, social inclusion and the feeling of belonging to a group. The labor market insertion of people with special needs brings self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. The quality of work life is related to the employee’s self-commitment and welfare at the task execution. The study of quality of work life with deaf individuals had a special complexity associated to the communication. The work aimed to study the quality of work life of deaf individuals in the city of João Pessoa – PB. This is an exploratory and descriptive research with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The research was accomplished in the FUNAD, portuguese acronym for Foundation Integrated Center for Support to People with Disabilities, located in João Pessoa – PB. In the results and discussions, the employees were characterized by their sociodemographic data. This work adopted the Walton’s model for quality of work life to analyze relevant aspects of the job insertion of deaf individuals. The study data about quality of work life indicates satisfaction of deaf individuals to the most factors surveyed. However, it could be observed some problems like about 30% of these people were unsatisfied with salary, 29% were unsatisfied with working conditions, 19% were unsatisfied with social integration and 17% unsatisfied with their rights in the institution and the lack of balance between work and life. From the study, it was possible to see how these problems can affect the quality of work life inside and outside workplace, demonstrating how quality of work life depends on balance between work and others spheres of life. The development of new actions to improve the quality of work life is an investment that the institutions should make, because this directly influences on the worker welfare and the quality of service.
