Resumo:
The ornamental stone and cladding segment experienced one of the largest
growth of the Brazilian mineral sector, provided by both new types of utilization
of these materials in the urban landscape, how much due to the technological advances that
allowed the use and diffusion of several rocks not previously commercialized.
In this context, the state of Paraíba has reserves of ornamental granites with types and
characteristics equal to or even better than other more traditional producing regions in the
sector.
Thus, this study about the ornamental rock sector in Paraíba was conducted
highlighting the main extraction sites and their physical characteristics and respective
aesthetic standards, describing the primary processing plant and its respective
technological characterization, aiming at the characterization of the sector, alerting the
state, federal, industrial development and development agencies, the need to create
basic geological research programs; training of human resources, developing
projects and policies for the qualification and specialization of labor; encouraging support
the exporting companies of blocks for the processing and exportation of rocks
indicating the need for effluent treatment programs
from the production of ornamental stones.
As a result of this broad survey, it is concluded that the state of Paraíba and
very promising for the production of ornamental stones, since much of the
territorial extension and constituted by geologically favorable areas and that the granites
Paraíba ornamental plants are in favor of market acceptance, especially the
International; being, therefore, an economic sector of natural vocation and great capacity
of currency generation.
