Abstract:
The objective of this work is to assess the effectiveness of the truck/shovel
system actually used at Cana Brava mine S.A. Mineracao de Amianto.
For this purpose two simulators were adapted based in the experience acquired in
the development of the system used at Black Lake mine, Canada. In this case,
several changes and assumptions were made in the order to satisfy the objectives
of the operation.
For determining the cycle times a statistical analysis was performed in order do
establish which type of distribution best fits each event. In order do minimize the
variability of these events a time study was made taking into account all shifts of
operation. The simulators were developed in FORTRAN 77.
The deterministic simulator called DETSAMA is used to determine the travel times.
The program is based on typical equipment performance curves which relates
vehicle speeds with available rimpull and haulage profile.
The stochastic simulator called DESTINAR is used to dispatch the trucks in order
to satisfy the objectives of the operation. The system is assessed based on
comparison between historical data and simulation results.
